[Completed Project] • JAPANESE ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE

The primary challenge was designing the comprehensive interior and exterior (excluding the flooring) for a high-traffic coffee shop. Beyond creating a standout visual identity, we faced significant structural hurdles. The client specifically required a heavy steel structure to be suspended from the roof, demanding careful load management. Additionally, we had to engineer precise, custom round cutouts into walls constructed from sandwich panel sheets, balancing the intricate design with structural integrity and durability against the tropical Sri Lankan climate.
To tackle these unique structural demands, we implemented specialized techniques inspired by precision Japanese engineering. For the suspended roof element, we engineered a custom load-bearing system that securely anchored the heavy steel structure while maintaining a clean, minimalist aesthetic. To achieve the client's vision for the walls, we utilized advanced milling to precisely carve the round cutouts into the sandwich panels without compromising their structural core. Finally, we ensured every joint and newly exposed edge was seamlessly sealed and treated for maximum weather resistance.

"The project resulted in a 30% increase in natural cooling efficiency and transformed the location into a local landmark. The client reported significantly higher foot traffic due to the unique aesthetic appeal, and the building now stands as a prime example of modern composite architecture in the region."
